God Knew Thee Before Forming Thee in thy Womb

Jeremias 1:5 Before I formed thee in the bowels of thy mother, I knew thee: and before thou camest forth out of the womb, I sanctified thee, and made thee a prophet unto the nations.

Genesis 49:25 The God of thy father shall be thy helper, and the Almighty shall bless thee with the blessings of heaven above, with the blessings of the deep that lieth beneath, with the blessings of the breasts and of the womb.

St. John Chrysostom on Abortion

by Denise Michelle

In our minds, abortion seems to us a
thing of this century, especially since
it was legalized here in our country
within the last twenty-five years.
But, Abortion has existed since early
history. Here is a sermon given by
St. John Chrysostom (circa AD 340-
407) in the fourth century about
abortion and contraception. It is a
sermon badly needed to be heard in
our present day.

"Why sow where the ground makes
it it's care to destroy fruit? Where there
are many efforts at abortion? Where
there is murder before birth? For you
do not even let the harlot remain a mere
harlot, but make a murderer also.
You see how drunkenness leads to
whoredom, whoredom to adultery,
adultery to murder; or rather something
worse then murder. For I have no real
name to give it, since it does not destroy
the thing born but prevents it's being
born. Why then do you abuse the gift of
God and fight with His Laws, and follow
a curse instead of a blessing, and make the
place of procreation a chamber for murder,
and arm the woman that was giving for
childbearing unto slaughter." (Homily 24
by St. John Chrysostom)
